Lavrov: Russia is interested in the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations unlike those countries that are located far from the South Caucasus

In a press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated: “We are addressing issues that, from our perspective, are relevant—specifically, the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku—driven by our deep interest in ensuring that our fraternal peoples live in peace and friendly relations. We have strategic relations with both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides. We are interested in this, unlike those countries that are located far from the South Caucasus and are pursuing a completely different agenda aimed at maintaining as much tension as possible there, hoping that, as a result of this tension, they can advance their strategic interests more effectively. Russia is guided by the tripartite agreements reached by our leaders.”
