Russian delegation visits Damascus 1st time since change of power in Syria

A Russian delegation has arrived in Damascus for an official visit. The delegation includes Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Alexander Lavrentiev, Russia’s Special Envoy on Syria.

This marks the first visit by Russian officials to Damascus since Bashar al-Assad was forced to leave the presidency and flee the country.
