In meeting with Hajiyev, Iran’s president reaffirms Tehran’s stance on unacceptability of border change in region
During a meeting with Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Tehran’s position that maintaining the territorial integrity of regional countries is a fundamental principle of Iran’s foreign policy, Armenpress writes.
“Any change of borders in the region is completely unacceptable,” the Iranian president stated.
It was noted that during the meeting, the participants also discussed issues related to the bilateral agenda between Iran and Azerbaijan.
“We want to develop relations with neighboring countries and Islamic countries, as we believe that any dispute or rift among Muslims will only lead to external intervention,” the Iranian president stated.
For his part, Hikmet Hajiyev stated that Azerbaijan views the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly and brotherly neighbor and seeks to deepen bilateral ties.
