Iran’s ambassador to Armenia: The so-called ‘Zangezur corridor’ is not beneficial for either Armenia or Iran
We support the idea of resolving issues through diplomatic means and are against using force to solve regional issues, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani told reporters.
“Using force to create a new route makes no sense and has no justification. I do not want to talk about potential events in the future or express a position. Of course, Armenia’s position that any route passing through its territory must be under its sovereignty is an internationally accepted norm,” the diplomat stated.
Sobhani noted that Iran will use its relations with Azerbaijan and other countries to prevent such conflicts.
“If an attack occurs now, I believe Armenia has the military capability to defend its country. Do not underestimate the defense capabilities,” he said.
“The positions of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the so-called ‘Zangezur corridor’ align with each other. It’s only Iran that supports Armenia on this issue,” the Iranian ambassador to Armenia said.
He noted that the so-called corridor is not beneficial for either Armenia or Iran.
