In which area of reforms is Armenia willing to support Syria? Foreign Ministry clarifies

In response to a query from Sputnik Armenia, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has outlined the areas of reform in which Yerevan is prepared to support Syria.

On Jan. 27, the ministry announced that during a meeting in Damascus with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan expressed Armenia’s readiness to assist in humanitarian efforts and the implementation of reforms.

Sputnik Armenia inquired about the initiative behind Kostanyan’s visit, whether Turkey was involved in its organization, and in which areas of reform Armenia is willing to support Syria.

The ministry clarified that the visit was “exclusively initiated by the Armenian side.”

The purpose of the visit was to establish relations with the new Syrian leadership, restore traditional friendly cooperation between the two countries, and discuss issues concerning the Armenian community.
