Trump thanks Putin

This marks the beginning of a relationship where we can put an end to this war. Donald Trump said this on the release of American Marc Fogel by Russia.

Trump said he is very grateful to Putin for the release of Fogel, who had been sentenced in Russia. “I am very thankful for what he has done… We appreciate what President Putin has done,” Trump said.

Mark Fogel was arrested on Aug. 15, 2021. He was later charged with drug smuggling. Fogel pleaded guilty in court.

The White House has confirmed that Trump sent his special envoy, Steven Witkoff, to Moscow. Witkoff personally negotiated with the Russians regarding Fogel’s release. Trump has already received Fogel at the White House. The Russian side has not yet issued an official statement.
