Peskov: Armenia gains dividends from the EAEU while waiting for EU membership

Countries have spent decades waiting to join the EU, but for now, Armenia is clearly receiving dividends from its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

“We are aware of the experience of many countries waiting for decades to join the EU. However, at this stage, we proceed from the understanding that Armenia continues to receive dividends from its membership in the EAEU and the Eurasian economic integration process. These dividends are more than evident,” Peskov noted.

According to him, pro-European politicians in Armenia believe that an orientation toward the EU will yield dividends for the country and its people. “This is Yerevan’s sovereign right, but everyone must understand how much this is a mutual desire,” Peskov stated.
