Washington frustrated as Zelenskyy rejects US deal on Ukraine’s mineral resources

U.S. National Security Council representative Brian Hughes stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “fails to fully appreciate the great opportunity that the Trump administration has provided to Kyiv” in the form of an agreement on the development of mineral resources, the Associated Press reports.

The newspaper said the Trump administration had grown weary of providing aid to Ukraine. Hughes noted that the mineral resource deal would allow American taxpayers to “compensate” for the funds sent to Kyiv while simultaneously contributing to Ukraine’s economic development.
