Iranian president does not exclude resuming negotiations with US

Iran does not rule out the possibility of negotiations with Washington but is not going to conduct them on unfavorable terms, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

“Some say we have no choice but to sit at the negotiating table with the U.S. But we never insisted that we wouldn’t talk. We only said that we are not going to bow down before bullies,” Pezeshkian noted.

He also noted that the logic of negotiations is undermined when one side is asked to lay down its weapons, knowing that the other side can strike at any moment.

To remind, the day before, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov that Tehran would not discuss the nuclear deal with the U.S. as long as Washington continues its maximum pressure policy.

He also clarified that Lavrov did not convey any message from the U.S. during his visit to Tehran.
