Peskov positive about Zelenskyy’s willingness for peaceful settlement
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has positively assessed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s readiness to initiate peace negotiations. However, he also noted that there is still a legal barrier to negotiations with Russia in Ukraine.
“I view Zelenskyy’s willingness positively. The question is who he will sit down with at the negotiating table. For now, the legal barrier for the Ukrainian president to conduct negotiations with the Russian side is still in effect. Overall, the approach is positive, but the details have not yet changed,” Peskov told reporters.
Speaking to the U.S. Congress on March 5, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had received a letter from Zelenskyy assuring him that he was ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible regarding peace in Ukraine. Prior to that, Zelenskyy had posted on X, expressing gratitude to Trump and the U.S. for their assistance and stating Kyiv’s readiness to end the war quickly.
Commenting on Lukashenko’s invitation to Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy to hold negotiations in Belarus, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that Minsk would be the best place for Russia to conduct negotiations on the Ukrainian issue, but that option has not yet been discussed in any way.
