Thanks to Armenia’s ‘courageous concessions,’ sustainable peace between Yerevan and Baku now within reach: Global reactions

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the announcement regarding the conclusion of negotiations for a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “There are now no obstacles to the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which should pave the way for sustainable peace in the South Caucasus,” Macron said in an X post.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock made an X post on this as well. “The news that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on a peace agreement is cause for hope. After decades of hostility and war, the fact that lasting peace is now within reach is important for the region and beyond. After long negotiations, Armenia’s courageous concessions make this final step on the path possible – a path we have accompanied both countries on. I call on both sides to now sign the peace agreement,” Baerbock said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria welcomed in an X post the progress made on the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Warmly welcome the progress made on peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we hope for the signing of an agreement soon. A comprehensive and just agreement would clearly strengthen stability, security and prosperity in the whole region,” the ministry stated.

Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the news regarding the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that this announcement will lead to the signing of a final agreement between the two countries. Spain reaffirmed its commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
