Iran and Georgia welcome agreement on peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Iran has welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said.

Baghaei stated that the Iranian Foreign Ministry considers the agreement a necessary and important step toward achieving sustainable peace in the South Caucasus.

“I hope the parties’ efforts to resolve differences through dialogue and diplomacy will soon lead to the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries and the establishment of peace and stability in the region,” Baghaei stated.

Georgia’s Foreign Ministry also welcomed the agreement on all seventeen points of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “This is a historic step toward establishing long-term peace and stability in the region,” reads the statement.
