Ukraine and US to sign mineral deal soon
Following negotiations in Saudi Arabia, delegations from Ukraine and the United States have issued a joint statement confirming their intention to sign an agreement on mineral resources in the near future.
According to the statement, Ukraine has expressed its readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to establish an immediate 30-day temporary ceasefire, which may be extended by mutual agreement. However, this arrangement is contingent on acceptance and simultaneous implementation by Russia.
The U.S. has stated that it will inform Russia about the importance of reciprocal steps in achieving peace. Additionally, Washington intends to resume intelligence sharing with Ukraine and restore security assistance.
During the negotiations, the sides emphasized the significance of humanitarian efforts within the peace process, especially during the said ceasefire. Particular attention was given to the exchange of POWs, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.
As noted, the presidents of both countries have agreed to sign a comprehensive agreement as soon as possible regarding the development of Ukraine’s mineral resources. This initiative will help to expand Ukraine’s economy, compensate for U.S. aid, and ensure the country’s long-term well-being and security.
