Lavrov: EU approaches to Ukraine directly contradict the Trump administration’s stance

The approaches of European leaders regarding Ukraine’s NATO and EU membership directly contradict the position of U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Russia-1.

Lavrov drew attention to the fact that Europeans currently face “a huge number of issues.” “This likely partly explains why they are so fervently demanding that Ukraine not surrender, demanding that Ukraine be armed, and insisting that the issue of Ukraine’s non-membership in NATO and the EU not be mentioned,” Lavrov noted. “In other words, they are directly contradicting the Trump administration, which has clearly stated through the president, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, that preliminary discussions are currently underway regarding the parameters of a final settlement, and that NATO should be forgotten.”
