Trump: If Iran doesn’t make a nuclear deal, there will be bombings like they’ve never seen before
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran on Sunday with bombing and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not come to an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program, Reuters writes.
Trump’s threats came after Iran rejected an offer to hold direct talks with Washington last week.
“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing. It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before,” Trump said.
Yesterday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Tehran, in a response letter to Trump, rejected Washington’s offer to hold direct talks on its nuclear program, noting that the window for negotiations is open only with the mediation of third countries.
Before that, the U.S. president had said that “bad things could happen to Iran” if the country’s authorities did not reach an agreement with Washington on Tehran’s controversial nuclear program.
The U.S. president recalled how he sent a letter to the Iranian authorities, in which he said that a decision must be made one way or another. Trump noted that either Washington and Tehran will talk and discuss issues, or very bad things will happen to Iran.
“I don’t want that to happen, I prefer that we make a deal with Iran. But if we don’t resolve the issue, bad, bad things will happen to Iran,” said the US president, who aims to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
