Russia ready to offer assistance to US and Iran to build dialogue

Moscow is ready to offer its assistance to Washington and Tehran in establishing constructive dialogue. Action must be taken, as “the train has not yet left the station”, Sergey Ryabkov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, said in an interview with the magazine International Affairs.

Ryabkov noted that Moscow is against aggression and military solutions to conflicts, warning Washington against striking Iran’s nuclear facilities, as the consequences “could be catastrophic for the entire region.”

“I am not even talking about what consequences this could have regarding Tehran’s actions, which our Iranian partners also openly and clearly state. Therefore, as long as there is time and the train has not departed, we must double our efforts to try to reach an agreement on reasonable grounds,” he noted, adding that “Russia is ready to offer its services to Washington, Tehran, and all those interested.”

On March 30, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that secondary tariffs would be imposed on Iran in two weeks if no progress is made in negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program. He threatened that if the Islamic Republic completely refuses to secure a deal, it would face unprecedented bombings.

In turn, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated during a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr that he does not believe in the possibility of U.S. military intervention, but if Washington attempts to incite rebellion in the Islamic Republic, it will receive a harsh response.
