No military alternatives: Iran’s foreign minister responds to Trump’s threats
Iran has never sought to have nuclear weapons, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
“Iran reiterates that under no circumstances will it seek, produce, or acquire nuclear weapons. Ten years after the signing of the JCPOA and seven years after the U.S. unilateral withdrawal, there has been no evidence that Iran has violated its obligations under the JCPOA. This has even been acknowledged by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard,” Araghchi wrote on social media.
He noted that Iran’s diplomatic path of cooperation with Western countries regarding its nuclear program has proven effective in the past and can remain effective to this day.
“However, everyone must clearly understand that there is no military alternative, not to mention a military path. The catastrophic failures in the Middle East, which cost the previous U.S. administration more than $7 trillion, speak for themselves,” the Iranian diplomat said.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reported that Araghchi had a phone conversation with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, discussing the current situation regarding negotiations related to the Iranian nuclear program. Grossi is scheduled to visit Tehran soon.
