Iran considers direct talks with US possible, but on certain condition

Iran says it considers direct talks with the U.S. possible, but only if sanctions are eased, Reuters writes.

The news agency notes that Tehran would want to see concrete gestures from the United States before any face-to-face talks between Iranian and U.S. officials.

Iranian sources also told the agency that Iran is cautious about the negotiations with the United States in Oman. Moreover, the Iranian side has deep doubts about the intentions of the American side.

The United States has also announced that it will impose tough sanctions against Iran (including on the oil sector) if there is no deal on Tehran’s nuclear program. This was stated by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
