US state department spokesperson: Turkey is undoubtedly an ally and friend
Ahead of the second U.S.-Russia meeting set to take place in Istanbul on April 10, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that “Turkey is undoubtedly an ally and friend,” Ermenihaber writes.
During a meeting with reporters, she also recalled statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding Turkey’s positive role in Syria.
Bruce stated that the purpose of the upcoming meeting is to stabilize the operations of the embassies, adding that “the meeting is not about political or security issues, and Ukraine is not on the agenda.”
According to her, the discussions will be exclusively focused on the operations of the embassies and are unrelated to the normalization of bilateral relations, which can only be resolved under the condition of peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Bruce also addressed reports about two Chinese citizens fighting for Russia in Ukraine, noting that China is Russia’s greatest supporter in the war in Ukraine.
