Kavelashvili: The full potential of the South Caucasus can be unleashed after the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan

A meeting between the presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan has taken place in Baku. Mikheil Kavelashvili and Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of strategic partnership between the two countries. They discussed bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade and economic relations, the significance of peace and stability in the region, large-scale strategic projects, and prospects for further deepening cooperation.

Kavelashvili confirmed Georgia’s readiness to continue contributing to the promotion of dialogue and diplomacy in the South Caucasus and invited Aliyev for an official visit to Georgia.

“I am deeply convinced that the strategically tested and friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen over time and reach a new level for the realization of our countries’ national interests. Georgia welcomes the completion of negotiations on all points of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” Kavelashvili stated. He noted that Georgia advocates for the resolution of conflicts through peace and dialogue.

The Georgian president noted that the South Caucasus needs peace to enhance the region’s influence on an international scale.

“The full potential of the region can be unleashed after the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Once again, I reaffirm my country’s stance, which supports dialogue and diplomacy,” the president of Georgia states.
