Beijing soon to sign transit agreement with Yerevan, changing South Caucasus economic landscape

China is going to include Armenia in its transportation network, marking another step within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Chen Ming, China’s Acting Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia, told Turkiye Gazetesi.

According to Ming, Beijing will soon sign an agreement with Yerevan in the transportation sector, and these projects will transform the economic landscape of the South Caucasus.

The Belt and Road Initiative is a strategy approved by the Chinese government aimed at developing infrastructure and deepening trade, investment, and connectivity between China and 65 countries in the region. The project envisions creating six major overland corridors connecting China to Europe and various parts of Eurasia, along with maritime routes.
