Putin proposes hostilities cease in Ukraine under current frontline

Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested ending hostilities in Ukraine, based on the current frontline, the Financial Times writes, citing three sources.

According to the sources, Putin also noted during a meeting in early April in Saint Petersburg with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff that Moscow might abandon its ambitions over certain territories occupied in Ukraine.

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told FT that “intense work is under way.”

“We are negotiating with the American side. The work is complex and long-term, so it is difficult to expect immediate results, and it cannot be made public,” Peskov stated.
