I said the responsibility for the events in Ivanyan lies exactly with the Azerbaijani side: Davit Babayan’s statement from Baku

Davit Babayan, Former Foreign Minister of Artsakh, has shared with 168.am an audio recording from a Baku prison via his family members. Babayan’s words are presented below without any alterations.

“Dear friends, dear compatriots,

I want to address all of you and say — do not worry, everything is okay with us. Information has come out through local media here about the 1992 Ivanyan events that completely contradict what I said. They have interpreted it in a way that is the opposite of what I actually said.

I said that the responsibility for those events lies exactly with the Azerbaijani side, and this was the result of internal power struggles.

Additionally, I have never said that there is a reward for the liberation of Ivanyan. That is also incorrectly worded. I will raise this issue during the court session tomorrow.

Overall, we are alright. We are being treated very well, especially in solitary confinement. We have no problems. They haven’t even said anything bad once, nor have they cast a hostile look in our direction,” Babayan said.
