Levon Kocharyan: The message today is addressed to Turkey, Azerbaijan, our authorities
We must demand accountability to prevent such actions, Member of Parliament Levon Kocharyan told ABC media during the torchlight procession.
“In September 2023, we saw what happened to the Armenians of Artsakh—ethnic cleansing and more. In this regard, it is very important for as many people as possible to participate in such events, to show both the world and our authorities that we will not tolerate all this, that there is a people ready to stand against it,” the MP stated.
According to him, the purpose of the torchlight procession is to prevent genocides worldwide.
He noted that, unfortunately, what happened in Artsakh in 2023 could not be prevented.
“We must attract everyone’s attention, unite—ultimately, this is not just a one-party event, but a gathering that truly should unite Armenians in Armenia and the diaspora. The message today is addressed to Turkey, Azerbaijan, our authorities, and everyone in general—we cannot simply forget and ignore the genocide carried out 110 years ago,” Kocharyan concluded.
