Overchuk: Splitting the global economy and tariff confrontation open opportunities for EAEU countries

Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries are protected within a common customs framework from the fragmentation of the global economy and tariff conflicts, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said during a press conference.

He participated in the 105th session of the Eurasian Economic Council held in Tashkent.

“We discussed this issue with our partners today, and we are also actively working within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, where our countries are protected by a common customs framework,” Overchuk said in response to a question from RIA Novosti about the impact of the fragmentation of the global economy and tariff confrontation on EAEU member states.

According to him, the fragmentation of the global economy and tariff conflicts present opportunities for EAEU countries.

“Of course, it is necessary to assess this situation carefully and respond collectively to these new challenges. However, at the same time, they also create opportunities. Because this situation promotes mutual trade between our countries, we will cooperate more actively in this regard,” the Russian deputy prime minister stated.
