Waltz’s resignation not related to Signal chat scandal, says Vance
Mike Waltz’s resignation as U.S. national security advisor is not related to the controversial Signal chat, U.S. Vice President JD Vance told Fox News.
According to him, U.S. President Donald Trump trusts Waltz.
“Both the president and I trust him. The president actually likes Waltz,” Vance noted.
He also described Waltz’s nomination as U.S. ambassador to the U.N. as a promotion.
Earlier, Trump announced that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio would additionally serve as the president’s national security advisor, replacing Mike Waltz.
Waltz was mixed up in a scandal in March. The first scandal over the Signal chat erupted in March after Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of the Atlantic magazine, was accidentally included in a chat where senior U.S. administration officials discussed the details of the operation against the Houthis in Yemen.
It later emerged that U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also shared plans to strike the Houthis in another Signal chat involving his wife, brother, and lawyer.
