Netanyahu trying to dictate to Trump what policy he should pursue toward Tehran, says Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to dictate to U.S. President Donald Trump what policy he should pursue toward Tehran.

“Netanyahu is attempting to brazenly dictate what President Trump can and cannot do in his diplomacy with Iran. The world has also learned how Netanyahu is directly meddling within the U.S. Government to drag it into another disaster in our region,” Araghchi said in an X post.

Araghchi stated that the only path to reach an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program is through diplomacy “based on mutual respect and mutual interests.”

On April 19, Reuters reported that Israel had presented the United States with several options for striking Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. On April 17, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that Israel was already going to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities in May and was confident that the United States would be actively involved in the preparation of the attack and ensure the defense of the Jewish state from a possible retaliatory strike by Tehran. According to the publication, U.S. President Donald Trump has opted for a diplomatic settlement of the disagreements with the Iranian side and in early April informed Israel that he would not support such a military operation.
