Egypt and Qatar reject proposal to give responsibility for aid delivery in Gaza to Israel
Egypt and Qatar, which, along with the United States, are mediators in indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding the resolution in Gaza, insist that the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid to the enclave’s population be overseen by U.S. representatives, not Israel, Maan reports.
As noted, Arab mediators “informed the United States that they reject the proposal to give responsibility for the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza to Israel.” The talks are now focused on ensuring that “the United States has the authority to oversee the flow of humanitarian supplies to Gaza and their distribution within the enclave.”
