Trump says Putin weary of war

U.S. President Donald Trump believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is weary of the war in Ukraine and would like to sign a ceasefire. Trump made the remarks during an interview with Fox News.

“I think Putin is tired of all this. He doesn’t look well, though he’s trying to appear fine,” Trump stated. According to the former president, the war should have lasted only a week, and had Russian tanks not been bogged down in mud, they could have reached Kyiv within five hours.

Speaking about the prospects for Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, Trump noted that no deal would be possible without his personal involvement. He also revealed that he had a tough conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying he was displeased with Zelenskyy’s recent remarks.

At the same time, the U.S. president avoided directly answering whether he considers Putin the main obstacle to achieving peace in Ukraine.
