Erdoğan no longer intends to run for president, says Ermenihaber
After returning from Hungary, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed journalists during a press conference, discussing the new constitution and his potential candidacy in the upcoming presidential elections, Ermenihaber reports.
“We want a new constitution not for ourselves, but for our country. We need a constitution now that will be presented by civilians, not by those participating in a coup,” the Turkish president said.
Regarding his potential candidacy in the upcoming presidential elections, Erdoğan stated, “I no longer intend to run for president.”
Twenty days before the March 31 local government elections, Erdoğan announced that those elections would be his last.
