There will be no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Highlights from Pashinyan’s speech

  • The dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group is acceptable to us, but we want to ensure that Armenia and Azerbaijan perceive the situation in the same way.
  • Azerbaijan refers to the entire territory of Armenia as “Western Azerbaijan.” We have repeatedly stated that Western Azerbaijan cannot exist within Armenia.
  • Despite all arguments and provocations, there will be no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan; peace will prevail. This is unequivocal.
  • The peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be signed simultaneously and in the same place.
  • We see that there are certain territorial claims against Armenia in Azerbaijan’s constitution. However, we have not raised this issue separately, considering that it will be addressed in the negotiated text of the treaty. This is our approach.
  • If the Constitutional Court decides that the peace treaty does not comply with our constitution, I will initiate constitutional amendments.
  • To ensure connectivity between Nakhijevan and the main part of Azerbaijan, we suggest that trains can arrive, undergo passport and border control, and reach Nakhijevan and vice versa.
