The slap to Macron was a harmless joke, says Élysée Palace

The French Presidential Office has denied media reports, which claimed that during an official visit to Vietnam, First Lady Brigitte Macron deliberately slapped her husband in front of the cameras.

The rumors began to spread after the publication of a video by the Associated Press. It clearly shows how Emmanuel Macron, getting off the presidential plane, gets a slap in the face. However, the person giving the slap is off-camera.

“A minor dispute between the spouses was the cause of what happened,” one of Macron’s close associates told AFP.
