Kyrgyzstan offers platform for Baku and Yerevan to sign peace treaty

Kyrgyzstan is ready to provide a platform for the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev said.

“We support efforts to establish stable peace and stability in the region. If necessary, Kyrgyzstan is ready to act as a mediator and provide a platform for the signing of a peace agreement,” Shakiev stated.

On March 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced that they had reached an agreement on the last two contentious points of the 17-article peace treaty. Yerevan expressed its willingness to discuss the venue and timing of the signing. The Azerbaijani side considers such discussions premature. Baku proposes two additional conditions for normalizing relations between the countries: the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, the activities of which were halted after 2022, and amendments to the Armenian Constitution.
