Russia has conducted information operations to discredit Armenian democracy and country’s pro-Western leadership, says US intelligence
The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency has announced that in the wake of the 2024 parliamentary elections, the Georgian Dream party has “created an environment that allows” Russia to increase its influence in Georgia.
The report presents an assessment of the global security situation.
“Russia is almost certainly trying to bring Georgia back into its sphere of influence,” U.S. intelligence officials believe.
The U.S. military intelligence report also mentions Armenia, noting that Russian-Armenian relations have worsened last year when Armenia “threatened to withdraw” from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and Russia “has conducted information operations to discredit Armenian democracy and the country’s more pro-Western leadership.”
