Elon Musk is leaving US presidential administration
American entrepreneur Elon Musk is leaving his position as chief adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, the Associated Press (AP) reports, citing a White House spokesman.
“Elon Musk is leaving his government role as a top adviser to President Donald Trump after spearheading efforts to reduce and overhaul the federal bureaucracy,” the publication writes.
In this position, the American businessman oversaw the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“Musk’s role working for Trump was always intended to be temporary, and he had recently signaled that he would be shifting his attention back to running his businesses, such as the electric automaker Tesla and the rocket company SpaceX,” the newspaper writes.
Musk had earlier announced that his term as a special civil servant was coming to an end. The billionaire thanked the U.S. president for the opportunity he had been given to cut inefficient government spending.
