Hamas and Israel agree to ceasefire in Gaza for 60 days

Hamas and Israel have agreed to establish a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Al Arabiya reports.

“Hamas and Israel have agreed to implement a ceasefire for a period of 60 days,” the publication states.

As noted, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff has been informed about the agreement between the parties regarding the ceasefire.

Earlier, Hamas announced that through mediators it had received a new ceasefire proposal from Witkoff. Israel’s Kan public TV reported that Israel agrees to the new proposal by the U.S. special envoy, but Hamas is dissatisfied with the new plan because it does not guarantee the complete cessation of hostilities and the full withdrawal of the Israeli military from the enclave.
