Erdoğan seeking to resolve Ukrainian conflict, Yermak heading to US, while Trump’s patience runs out
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s initiative to prepare for a leader-level meeting to resolve the Ukrainian conflict involves preliminary work through traditional “telephone diplomacy,” RIA Novosti writes, referring to sources from Turkey’s presidential administration.
Erdoğan previously announced that he expects a meeting in Turkey between U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He stated that Turkey would take appropriate steps following negotiations held at the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul.
RBC-Ukraine reports that Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, is heading to the United States.
According to FlightAware, the aircraft connected with Zelenskyy, UR-ABA, is already in U.S. airspace. However, it is unclear whether Zelenskyy himself is onboard.
Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Turkey has stated that Trump has “run out of patience” regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
