US concerned about security of its air bases
The U.S. military is forced to review the security of U.S. air bases due to the growing threat from drones, Politico reports.
“There’s no doubt that we have a myriad of aircraft …. stored in facilities, really, that are designed to protect them from the weather and are not resistant to explosives,” Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker said.
According to the publication, the strike could force a reassessment of the American military’s defensive posture and spending priorities, including whether to invest in more counter-drone technologies, hardened aircraft shelters or camouflage.
As noted, this is one of the reasons why U.S. President Donald Trump is actively supporting the adoption of the bill, which, among other things, provides for funding for counter-drone capabilities.
