Iran against US sanctions: Tehran accuses Washington of violating international norms
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has strongly criticized the recent restrictive measures imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on individuals and entities allegedly involved in trade and banking cooperation with Tehran, Mehr reports.
Baghaei noted that these sanctions, which stem from “maximum pressure on the Iranian people—an unsuccessful and inhumane policy,” not only seriously violate the principles and norms of international law but also once again reveal the decades-old, ingrained, hostility of the U.S. administration toward the Iranian people.
According to him, these steps taken by Washington, aimed at “adding additional pressure on every Iranian and depriving them of their fundamental rights,” will only strengthen the resolve and will of the Iranian people to defend their lawful interests and rights against any abuses by the U.S.
On June 6, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced an update to the blacklist, including 10 individuals and 27 organizations. The sanctions affected not only Iranian entities but also companies from China, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates, amid ongoing nuclear negotiations.
