Clashes erupt in Los Angeles over immigration crackdown

Protesters in Los Angeles, U.S., have been clashing with law enforcement for the second consecutive day. The cause of the unrest is the ongoing harsh measures against immigrants.

On Saturday, new clashes occurred in the southeastern part of the city—Paramount. According to reports, immigration authorities detained people near a construction supplies store, which angered local residents.

Protesters took to the streets to voice their opposition. Law enforcement officers, dressed in special gear and masks, used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

High-ranking officials have warned that participants in the disturbances may be held accountable.

The protesters shouted at law enforcement, demanding that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers leave Paramount.

“ICE, get out of Paramount. We see who you are. You are not welcome here,” protesters chanted.
