Marines to be deployed on Los Angeles streets with authority to detain civilians

U.S. marines will join national guard troops on the streets of Los Angeles within two days, Reuters writes, citing officials.

To remind, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the deployments over the objections of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Los Angeles is in its second night of curfew after nearly a week of unrest. In addition to Los Angeles, protests have also erupted in other major U.S. cities, including New York, Atlanta and Chicago.

As noted, the Marines will be authorized to detain anyone who interferes with immigration officers on raids or protesters who confront federal agents.

To remind, the protests broke out last Friday in response to a series of immigration raids.
