UN calls for restraint from Iran and Israel
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has called on Israel and Tehran to exercise maximum restraint and urged them to avoid escalating the conflict in the region.
Additionally, Guterres noted that the U.N. is concerned about the strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites carried out by Israel. According to him, the organization condemns any military escalation in the Middle East.
“The Secretary-General condemns any military escalation in the Middle East. He is concerned about the strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites by Israel, while Iran and the United States are negotiating over the Iranian nuclear program,” the U.N. said in a statement.
To remind, early in the morning, the Israeli army launched strikes on Iranian territory, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking military officials and scientists.
