Pashinyan preparing for capitulation and surrender of Syunik, says Moskovsky Komsomolets
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan intends to nationalize the Electric Networks of Armenia, which is part of Tashir Group, headed by billionaire Samvel Karapetyan. The Armenian prime minister announced this on June 18. Last night, Karapetyan was detained by security forces at his private residence in Yerevan. He has been charged with “public calls to seize power.” Prior to this, the businessman had expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church, which was attacked by the prime minister, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
As noted, problems also quickly arose within the Tashir Pizza chain of food outlets, which is part of Tashir Group. Sudden inspections were carried out at all 36 food outlets, revealing numerous violations.
The publication states that Samvel Karapetyan holds Russian citizenship and is among Russia’s 50 wealthiest people. He owns several large shopping centers in Moscow. His wealth is estimated at $3.2 billion.
Moskovsky Komsomolets highlighted that Pashinyan is now inciting “class hatred” against Karapetyan—hiding behind the people, as always.
“However, in reality, he himself is waging war against his own people, attacking the Armenian Church, which is the foundation of the people’s identity, and planning to sign agreements that essentially mean the capitulation of the Armenian people before its external enemies. The agenda includes signing a peace treaty with Baku, opening the “Zangezur Corridor”—connecting Azerbaijan, Nakhijevan, and Turkey—and the surrender of the Syunik region. It is expected that the people, deprived of strong leaders and spiritual support, will be unable to resist,” the website notes.
The publication adds that if the businessman is sentenced to long-term imprisonment and his assets are confiscated, a war could erupt in Russia over his vast property holdings. It will be extremely difficult for Samvel Karapetyan to defend them while being in prison.
