Zelenskyy expects to meet Trump
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump during the NATO Summit 2025 in The Hague. After an unsuccessful meeting with Trump at the G7 summit in Canada, Zelenskyy hopes to speak with him at the upcoming NATO summit. “Yes, I am going,” Zelenskyy told Sky News. “I don’t know what will happen. The teams are working; we are going.”
He declined to answer whether serious negotiations are being prepared to address issues or if it would be just a casual conversation, saying that currently, the discussion concerns the timing of a possible meeting with the U.S. leader. Trump left the G7 summit early on June 16. The White House explained that he needed to “attend to very important matters.” However, the Financial Times later reported that the reason was dissatisfaction with French President Emmanuel Macron and a lack of interest in meeting Zelenskyy.
