Trump says Russia won’t attack NATO
U.S. President Donald Trump assured NATO allies in Europe that Russia will not attack the North Atlantic Alliance as long as he is in the White House, The Washington Post reports.
“According to three officials, during the main session, Trump spoke positively about defense spending and promised that Russia would never attack NATO as long as he is president,” the publication states.
The Washington Post notes that other NATO leaders praised the U.S. leader’s efforts to increase European defense spending and supported his strikes against Iran. According to European officials, many of them have resorted to flattery, which turns out to be a very effective way to curry favor with Trump.
Bloomberg had earlier reported that during a closed-door meeting with NATO leaders in The Hague, Trump did not once mention Russia.
