The authorities will push this process to the end, says Abraham Gasparyan
Armenia has long exited the environment of democracy; the main reason for this is the clear violation of the national interests of Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian people in the wake of the 44-day war, Abraham Gasparyan, political scientist and founder of Genesis Armenia, told ABC media.
The political scientist notes that Armenia is dealing with a classic authoritarian system and regime, whose initiated political processes contradict the Armenian Constitution and human rights. According to him, everything began with mental terror led by the person occupying the prime minister’s seat.
“Of course, there are obligations, so to speak, to the outside world—the world that has guaranteed the continuation of power. This does not refer to the West or Russia, but specifically to Turkey. I was among the first to say that the only external legitimacy this government has comes from official Ankara. If Israel had not been involved in this conflict, perhaps Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan’s arrest would have happened much earlier,” Gasparyan noted.
The political scientist is sure this is a logical continuation of the campaign against the Supreme Patriarch and the Church, and the authorities will carry it out to the end, with full support from Turkey.
