Russia interested in maintaining order in Armenia, says Peskov
Russia is in contact with its partners in Armenia, including regarding the situation over the arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“Armenia is an important ally of ours. We have rather developed and multifaceted relations. And, of course, since Karapetyan is also a Russian citizen, relevant contacts are being established,” Peskov stated.
He added that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement about preventing an attempted coup in the country is an internal matter for Armenia.
“This is Armenia’s internal affair. We, of course, are interested in maintaining order in Armenia so that it remains a prosperous, stable, and friendly country to Russia,” Peskov responded to questions about how the Kremlin has reacted to the ongoing events in Armenia and what it thinks about the rising tensions.
