Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan’s lawyer not allowed to enter diocese residence

Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak, is currently at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, participating in a Synod of Priests, lawyer Tamara Yailoyan told Sputnik Armenia.

However, Ajapahyan’s defender was not allowed to enter the residence, where a search is currently underway. Law enforcement officials have stated that the lawyer will be able to enter after the search is completed.

To remind, it became known yesterday that a criminal case has been brought against Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak. Ajapahyan is accused of “seizing power, violating territorial integrity, making public calls to renounce sovereignty, or forcibly overthrow the constitutional order.”
