Iran backs Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, says Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson

Iran supports the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said.

“Regarding the issue between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, we have consistently emphasized the need to support the peace process between the two countries and have encouraged both sides to sign a peace agreement as soon as possible,” Baghaei stated.

He added that peace and stability in the South Caucasus region are of strategic importance to Iran.

“We maintain good and balanced relations with both the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” Baghaei noted.
