Iran denies Trump’s claim that Tehran requested meeting with Washington
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has denied U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims that Tehran allegedly requested a meeting with U.S. negotiators.
“We have not submitted any request for a meeting with the U.S. side,” Baghaei noted.
Trump had earlier stated that Iran had “asked for a meeting,” and if it were possible to “get something on paper” as a result of the talks, that would be great.
According to U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are likely to take place next week.
